Christmas Sprint

It's that time of year again. We are bogged down with grading, exams, lesson planning, supervision duty, and all of the usual stresses. But alas, we're also on the time-frame where we can look forward to our upcoming Winter Break. Along the way our house is filled with the smell of spiced pumpkin scones and hot chocolate. Christmas music fills the house and movies follow at night. We're also at a fun age where Harris can get in on the action. He was a largely passive participant in our Christmas celebrations last year due to developmental restrictions. This year, he's old enough to enjoy it and we are doing everything we can to make sure we do so. I even made his stroller into a sleigh, complete with the traditional eight reindeer and Rudolph leading the way. He has even been chased around by neighborhood kids while we were on a walk, and he was called "Baby Santa." So there's that. The compound had a Christmas festival and tree lighting ceremony (kind of lame, but the effort is still applaudable), and I am sneaking in every opportunity I can to wear my Christmas tie to work.

Now I am sitting here listening to Christmas music, awaiting the pending doom of 86 essays headed for my desk tomorrow after exams conclude, and my self-imposed exile until I finish grading them. But soon, on the horizon, is time with family again, and a few trips to explore some more cool places. Here's to getting through it, and getting to the fun stuff on the other side of that pile of papers.
